| LSJP clarifies controversy over slogan | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 10
Refuting the reports that Lok Jan Shakti Party district president of Chenani, Sharif Khan had raised the slogan of Pakistan Zinadabad during a rally at Chenani, State unit LJSP president Rafiq Malik today clarified that Khan had raised the slogan as Paswan Zinadabad which was misinterpreted by some BJP workers also present at the rally. Malik said frustrated with Muslims of Jammu supporting the agitation over Amarnath Shrne issue, some mischievous elements were trying to create a divide between the communities and hence, the Muslims of the region are under a threat. He added that this point was also raised before the all-party delegation that had come on Saturday to Jammu to hold talks with the Sangharsh Samiti. Malik said it was brought to the notice of the delegation from the centre that some mischievous elements had caused a great loss to Muslim and Gujjar communities by burning their sheds and also damaging their vehicles and thus they deserve compensation on this account. The LJSP state chief added that after listening to their representation, the delegation immediately agreed upon the compensation and said that the centre as well as the state would act in this regard. While complimenting the Sangharsh Samiti and others for their efforts in keeping the agitation free from communal touch, Malik said he would like to take the opportunity to appeal the mischievous elements to avoid attacking Gujjars and Muslims of Jammu and hence save creating a wedge between the communities. He appealed all the agitating sections to carry on with the protest in a peaceful manner. Malik, in the meanwhile, has appealed to the administration to lift the curfew as the protests during the past couple of days have been very peaceful. Malik said that he was accompanied by 11 LJSP members from the state during the meeting with the central delegation. They included State LJSP Women Wing president Sudesh Puri, state Gen Secy M R Puri and state secretaries Rakesh Sharma and Ajay Raina. |
