BAJ demands withdrawal of Army from Jammu
Stresses need for setting up of a media cell

Bar Association Jammu has impressed upon the visiting delegation to withdraw army immediately wherever it is deployed in the Jammu Division and leave it to the local police to deal with the present situation. BAJ delegation further demanded that curfew be lifted and the cases registered against various persons including women and children during the agitation should be withdrawn.
A delegation of Bar Association Jammu on the invitation of Administration, comprising more than 40 advocates, yesterday met All Party delegation headed by Union Home Minister Shiv Raj Patil. BAJ and submitted a memorandum to the central delegation highlighting the discrimination meted out to people of Jammu and Ladakh region in the matter of development, creation of Districts, Delimitation of constituencies, employment and categorically urged delimitation of constituencies before holding elections to the state assembly due in October this year..
Expressing its opinion about the outcome of the talks, the BAJ held that All Party Delegation was having a limited brief to hear the views of various delegations without any authority to decide the issue and termed it as a delaying tactics to prolong the agony of people of Jammu region without any justification.
In the meantime the BAJ in a meeting held today under the Chairmanship of its President Adv BS Salathia discussed various issues confronting the ongoing agitation which has entered its 41st day today. The members present in the meeting unanimously felt the need for constitution of a media cell for proper press briefing as the intelligentsia and people of Jammu feel it a must for effective projection of various developments taking place during the agitations. BAJ unequivocally supported the demands of SAYSS for restoration of land to SASB by withdrawing the illegal and unconstitutional order passed by the minority Government having no moral right to take such decision and also demanded recall of Governor NN Vohra.
BAJ has also expressed its concern over the provocative and inflammatory statements made by Mehbooba Mufti President PDP and decided to examine the legality of such statements during telecast of various discussions in the electronic media so that appropriate legal action available under law could be initiated.
Among others present in the meeting were CM Sharma, Pawan Manni, Mandeep Singh Jamwal, Rajesh Kotwal, RK Gupta, Amrit Sareen, BS Manhas, Abhinav Sharma, Ajay Singh Manhas, Harshvardhan Gupta, Ashok Mishra, RS Jamwal, , Subodh Jamwal, SK Shukla, Abhinav Sharma, , DS Chouhan, Rajesh Thappa, Pawan Dev Singh, RS Darswal, Monish Chopra, Piyush Gupta, Vikukash Anand, Vikas Sharma, Deewakar Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Joyti Mishra, Rakesh Jeet, Baldev Singh, Vinay Sharma, Arun Jamwal and MP Singh Palli President Young Lawyers Association.
