Azad’s direction for digging of bore-wells under prompt implementation
Mangat, Romesh inaugurates Bore well at Shakti Nagar

Jammu, Sept 07: On the directions of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ground water wing of Public Health Engineering today start drilling of bore wells in the Jammu city so that the short fall caused due to the damage of sitlee filtration plant in Nagrota
Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma and Minister of State for PHE Dr. Romesh Sharma today inaugurated one of the bore well at Shakti Nagar opposite CPS Medical Sub-Division, and directed the officers to complete the work in stipulated time frame.
Minister was apprised that the bore well would discharge 2 lac galleons of water per day and would be completed within the period of 15 days.
Mr. Sharma informed the people of area that the Chief Minister yesterday approve 10 Bore wells for Jammu city to over come the short fall of drinking water with the collapse of old intake pump house at sitlee in Nagrota.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Sharma said that government is committed to provide every basic facility to the people and has a great concern with the people who were affected with the recent floods.
The Minister appealed the people to cooperate with the department till the alternate arrangements are made. He, however, said that the engineers are working on war footing to restore water supply to the people.
Minister of State for PHE, Dr. Romesh Sharma in his address lauded the role of public health engineering department and said that the water supply of the Jammu city and its adjoining areas depends upon sitlee which had a capacity of 170 lac galleon per day adding that with the damage of one of the pumping house there is shortfall of 70 galleons which is being meted out with alternate arrangements.
He said that on the instructions of Chief Minister emergency measures were taken by the department and 10 bore wells are being commissioned, which will add 20 lac galleons of drinking water. He added that the construction of new pump house would be started soon.
