Muslim Federation, Jammu has welcomed the talks held between central team led by Shivraj Patil and Sangrash Samiti to settle the land row.
In a meeting held here today, leaders of the federation have appealed to both parties to ensure return of normalcy in J&K, so that an atmosphere is created for finding a solution to the issue.
The federation highlighted the need to initiate a people to people dialogue regarding this issue as the atmosphere in Jammu and some incidents of burning Kullahs of minority community and targeting of Kashmir based truck drivers and announcement of economic blockade has in fact, generated a negative impact in Kashmir valley which is acting as a stumbling block to the solution of the problem.
The federation has welcomed the announcement of ex-gratia relief for those who have lost their lives in the ongoing agitation. A comprehensive package was also demanded for rehabilitation of Gujjars and appropriate compensation for the loss they have suffered. As a step towards normalization of situation the leadership of Jammu spearheading the agitation must come out against economic blockade, this approach is all the more necessary because the Yatra has to continue in Kashmir valley with the active support of Kashmiri Muslims who are fully involved in the whole process of Yatra and who have openly extended their support in favour of the Yatra and in favour of the security and comfort of all the yatries.
Muslim Federation has also appealed to the state and central government to postpone the election at-least for a considerable time so that the issue of land is not exploited in the state by the political parties.
The meeting was chaired Abdul Majid and attended by H.A Siddiqui, Jamat Ali, Talat Niaz Qazi, Ikram Ahmed, Parvez Malik, Shuja Kazmi, Nasir Ahemd Mir, Bharti, Ghulam Mohd. Shokat and Manhas.
