| 6 militants among 8 killed in JK | | | Srinagar: Six militants are reported to have been killed during different encounters at Handwara, Pulwama and Poonch. Meanwhile a police constable was shot dead at Handwara, while as a class XII student injured by some unidentified gun men on August 28 in the afternoon succumbed to injuries at Bandipora on Thursday last. Reports reaching Srinagar indicate that troopers of 6 RR and SOG sleuths laid a siege around Sultanpora forest at Zachaldara Handwara during which militants and security forces got engaged into heavy exchange of fire which continued till late Wednesday night. Though 3 militants are claimed to have been killed during the encounter, but their identity is yet to be disclosed. However body one of the deceased people was handed over to police and search operations continued till last reports came in. Meanwhile militants fired upon the sleuths of 82 BN BSF during crackdown in Vel Akhal Gulshanabad village of Rajporea area of Pulwama district and two militants were killed, when BSF personnel retaliated. Police sources said that both the slain militants owe allegiance to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit, but their identity is yet to be disclosed. The recovery of 2 pistols, 2 magazines, 12 rounds of bullets, 3 AK magazines and some ammunition is being claimed. Reports also indicate that unidentified gunmen barged into the house of one police constable Ab Gaffar Mir S/O Mohd Subhan at around 9.00 P.M on Wednesday night at Budbugh Handwara and fired upon him indiscriminately and he died on spot. It has been learnt that the slain constable was posted at Srinagar and had come to see his family. In yet another almost a similar incident a class XII student Tahira Bano D/O Gh Rasool Lone R/O Simlar Bandipora injured by unidentified gunmen on August 28 succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Soura on Thursday last. The reasons of her killing could not be ascertained. Meanwhile an unidentified militant was killed during an encounter with security forces in Garsaiey area of Poonch district in Jammu province. |
