Arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day in Jammu were finalized at a meeting held at Mini Stadium, Parade Ground, the venue of the main function, here today. The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Mandeep K Bhandari presided the meeting. Dr. Bhandari asked the concerned authorities to ensure dewatering of the Mini Stadium either manually or by using pumps. The water has accumulated in the ground due to rains. He also issued instructions for removing grass and leveling the ground to make it fit for the function. Other arrangements finalized in the meeting included cleanliness, electricity, drinking water, medical aid and transport. It was stated that the contingents drawn from district police, armed police, auxiliary police, civil defence, CRPF, fire and emergency services besides band of armed police would participate in the march past. A composite cultural programme based on the theme of national integration and patriotism depicting glorious heritage of the state would be presented on the occasion. The auspicious day will break with shehnai vadan. A full dress rehearsal would be held on August 13. Among those, who participated in the meeting included Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Mr. S. D. S. Jamwal, SSP Traffic, Mr. Parminder Singh, SSP Security, Mr. Johnny William, Joint Director Information, Jammu, Dr. Sat Pal and other senior officers of various departments. |
