‘Was exodus of KPs initiated by then Kashmiri Muslim leadership?’
8/3/2020 11:42:23 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 3: Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party President, Mir Junaid, has said that politicians should answer difficult questions vis-à-vis mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in 1990.
Mir Junaid in a statement said that he had written an article in a national daily on March 9 2020, and had raised certain questions on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. “In view of the historical facts, the question that needs be asked is: Was it a political conspiracy (with the consent of all political parties and state machinery) to ensure permanent exit of the Pandits from Kashmir?” Mir Junaid had written in his article.
He said that in the article he had questioned whether exodus of KPs and establishment of Islamic state was initiated by the then Kashmiri Muslim leadership? And had that been given the stamp of approval by the then Indian political leadership.
“Was not that ‘Azadi’ granted to buy some peace in the region? Else, how does one explain total apathy of all the political parties in the land towards the plight of the Pandits? Who will answer as to why this tragic event was never ever discussed in the Parliament and why no Inquiry Commission was set up to find out why Pandits were made to flee and who were its mastermind? Why V P Singh said: “Who Pandits”?” Mir asked.
Referring to the recent statement of National Conference president and former J&K Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah that exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley should be probed, Mir Junaid said, “It is for the first time that Farooq Abdullah has asked for probe in such historic blunders. Kashmir centric leaders have been forced to soften their stand as the young leaders, who have appeared on the political scene are giving sleepless nights to them.”
He said, “The Government of India should initiate a probe into the exodus of Pandits and people responsible for it should be punished. We have all the time been demanding probe and requesting our Pandit brethrens to return. We are incomplete without them,” Mir Junaid added.
