Rejecting the statement of Union Home Minister that Amarnath Yatra needs to be carried on in the same way as it was carried earlier, two frontline organizations of Kashmiri Pandits, All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) and Panun Kashmir Movement (PKM) said that this statement tantamount to deviating from the core issue of transfer of land to the Shrine Board.
Jointly addressing media persons here today A.N.Vaishnavi, President, ASKPC and Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo of PKM took serious notice of the Home Minister’s childish statement said that so-called proposal to cancel both the decisions of the Cabinet and the Governor in this regard is also a divergent tactics employed to subvert the on-going agitation in Jammu on the issue. Asserting that minority Hindu community in Jammu and Kashmir has the same right on the territory of the State as that of the majority community of the State, these leaders said that people living in this state with thousands of years history on their back have an inalienable right on the territory of the State as the indigenous people of the land. The so-called proposal of the Government in this regard to defuse the situation is not only mala-fide but also speaks of government’s one more meek surrender before the Kashmir based politicians at the cost of the nationalist forces of the State, these leaders alleged.
Announcement of doles and packages for Kashmir region by the government on the occasion of visit of Parliamentary delegation to Srinagar is also a part of its appeasement policy, which shall further aggravate the already tense situation in Jammu region, they said, adding that these announcements are fraught with dangerous consequences and defeat the very purpose for which the Parliamentary team was deputed to visit the State.
‘We condemn the attitude of the Central government towards the peace loving and patriotic people of the Jammu region. This persistent mind-set against Jammu region and negative attitude of the government has been responsible for the current situation, they said.
These leaders said that the government can ignore the sentiments of the Hindu community on the land transfer issue only at its peril adding that the people’s movement on the issue has created a historic opportunity to rewrite the history of Jammu and Kashmir in context of its minority Hindu population. ‘We reject any subjugation to the servitude of the Muslim majoritarian politics of the state and caution people to remain vigilant against the government machinations aimed at to subvert the historic movement’.
The KP leaders said the on-going agitation in the Jammu province, which has support of all sections of society, will continue till the core demands of the Sangarsh Samiti are met. Our unconditional support and contribution to the agitation shall continue till it achieves its cherished goals”, they declared.
