| NC demands adequate compensation to the suffers of Jammu region | | Asks Sangarsh Samiti to prove itself true to its words | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 11
Welcoming the measures announced by the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, to offset the losses suffered during the present turmoil in the state, the National Conference in a meeting of its front ranking and prominent leaders held under the chairmanship of its provincial president, Ajay Sadhotra, has called upon the state and the central governments to asses the losses suffered and provide adequate compensation to the sufferers including transporters, farmers, vegetable and other cereal growers of Jammu region and also the traders connected with the tourist trade. The meeting, after taking stock of the latest situation prevailing in the state especially in Jammu region, unanimously passed a resolution asking the government of India and the state government to carry forward the dialogue process to its logical conclusion and find an amicable solution to the present unrest on land transfer row to SASB. The meeting also appealed the Prime Minister to provide a special package for making adequate arrangements for Shri Amarnath Yatra from Pahalgam to the cave as also from the Baltal route. Expressing its displeasure and anguish over the attitude of some leaders, who are spearheading the agitation in Jammu, the meeting ‘termed it as unfortunate’ and said that NC believes in the high values of integrity and well being of the people of the state and the nation as a whole. Exuding confidence that the BJP and other vested interests, having an eye on the coming assembly poll, will fail to mislead the people and asked the Sangrash Samiti to prove itself true to its words by keeping the Samiti free from the people having political motives and not to fall prey to the BJP. Lauding the role of party workers in general and the general masses in particular for exhibiting their traditional secular thought during the current turmoil, the meeting admired the courageous stand taken by the party high command in making all out efforts to defuse the current situation. The meeting among others was attended by R L Gupta, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, S S Slathia, Ch. Talib Hussain, Rachpal Singh, T S Wazir, Ram Paul, C M Sharma, S P Lakhotra, Mohinder Gupta, Kashmira Singh, Haji Mohammed Hussain, Bimla Luthra, Pardeep Bali, Prof H R Sharma, Arshad, Shyam Mehra, Vinod Bhalla, Satwant Kour, Dilshad Malik and R N Sharma. |
