| BJP accuses govt. of engineering opposition to land transfer | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 12
Accusing authorities of virtually engineering opposition to the land transfer in Kashmir valley, the State BJP today said that the ‘opposition to the land transfer in the Kashmir valley was allowed to built up immediately after May 20, when the State Government ordered diversion of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. Entire Jamait-e-Islamic and Dukhtaran-e-Milat leadership was deliberately allowed to mobilize the public and preach communalism”, it added. The Kashmir-based papers, which published articles describing yatra as a ‘monstrous phenomenon and a political ghost’ to engulf and overwhelm Kashmiri Muslim identity, were also allowed unbridled freedom by the authorities including the then State Governor Lt. Gen. S.K. Sinha and his Principal Secretary Arun Kumar to pour venom against India, a party handout said. The Government of India only stirred up to action when there were motivated and false complaints of economic blockade of Kashmir valley. Its various officials and the so-called mainstream leaders like Omar Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba Mufti, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, to mention only a few, have been describing the mass movement in Jammu as divisive and communal and the anger in the Valley as an expression of humanitarian needs which the so-called blockade has created, the handout said. Referring to the Prime Minister’s special letter to JKLF leader Yasin Malik asking him to call off his fast, the BJP said that an emissary was flown from New Delhi in chartered plane to the valley and the letter was delivered to Yasin Malik, who assured the public that he was calling off his fast because the Prime Minister is himself intervening. The Prime Minister’s letter was a signal for the separatist rank and file to built more pressure so that the attention is diverted from the issue brought to fore by the massive agitation in Jammu, the BJP claimed and said that the Muzaffrabad-Challo call given by the fruit growers at the behest of the separatists and the likes of Mehbooba Mufti need to be viewed in this context. The BJP wants to tell the vested interests in and outside the government that they would surely fail in their game-plan aimed at diverting the people’s attention from the real issue, which is a fundamental issue for the people of Jammu and the Indian nation. It would be better if such elements abandon their rigid attitude and concede forthwith the demands put forth by the Sangarsh Samiti, of which the BJP is an integral part. This is the only way to win over the alienated people of Jammu province and restore lasting peace in the extremely angry and highly disturbed region, the BJP said. |
