As Jammu and Kashmir continues to burn in flames, the peace makers from across the country have started making their contributions in dousing the passions. Internationally renowned spiritual Guru and the founder of the Art of Living Foundation, Sri Sri Ravi Shanker today arrived in the town to make a bid for peace. After a meeting with people from different walks of life, Sri Sri today issued an appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to adopt peaceful and non-violent mode of agitation over Amarnath land transfer row to help restore normalcy in the state. "I appeal to you to agitate peacefully, protect minorities, and join the dialogue to resolve the issue as this is the only way forward,Guruji said addressing a press conference in guest house.Several social, religious and political organisations called on him in guest house and interacted with him throughout the day. Addressing the media persons he criticised the role of politicians in the ongoing agitation and appealed to the civil society to keep them out of the picture and initiate dialogue on their own. "Politicians have played a very negative role in the overall situation in Jammu and Kashmir.They have incited religious sentiments of the people to their own advantage",he regretted. He lambasted centre for its poor handling of the situation and delayed response."I fail to understand what was centre doing all these days.They have acted late", he added. People in Jammu were agitating on the streets of Jammu and the centre was sleeping.They have acted late and i hope they will act fast now. He labeled the on going agitation as a silent revolution and said the wounds were very deep. Referring to the core issue of Amarnath land transfer Guruji made it clear that the shrine board needed land for pilgrims facilities and the state government transferred the land as per its requirment."So where is the problem and who has the problem which has casued so much of death and destructionin the state for over one month". He said i fail to understand how the demography of the area would have changed with the arrival of the pilgrims.Guruji also advised state administration to be impartial while handling the law and order situation. |
