| AWWA celebrations commence at Yol Cantonment | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 13
Rupa Sharma and Harinder Grewal, President and Vice President Rising Star AWWA while kick starting the AWWA celebrations at Yol Cantonment echoed the need for social empowerment to Indian Women and the need for granting equal status to the girl child and women in the society. The Rising Star Corps has always been in the forefront on such issues of protecting and empowering the girl and the women in the society. President AWWA while speaking on the occasion voiced her strong concern on the rapidly falling security for the weaker sex in the society. She said that the time has come when the gender bias has to be completely removed from Indian society. She stressed upon the women to be strong physically and mentally to take on the world in their stride. Amongst other functions, spread over a fortnight, the ladies of entire Corps from Jammu, Basoli, Rantuchak, Pathankot, Mamum will join hands in celebrating the spirit behind the Army Wives Welfare Association. Various programmes including launch of “NANHI PARI” project conceptualized by the President. It will emphasize the growing need for case of the girl child and providing her with the basic requirement to enable her to match up with insecurity prevalent in the society at large. The other programmes include various talks by renowned speakers from the civil on issues of concern for women in the society, culture programmes and various other programmes for the betterment of society. August 23 is always celebrated by the ladies of the Army in a very big way symbolizing the innate strength of the women. Army leaves no stone unturned in providing equitable platform to women fraternity of the society. |
