| PK expresses concern over attaching RC with darbar move | | ‘Unjustified move to cause immeasurable sufferings to migrants’: Agnnishkhar | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 13
Expressing surprise and concern over the Government order by which the office of the Relief Commissioner (Migrants) Jammu has been attached with the darbar move and re-designating it as Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Dr. Agnishekhar of Panun Kashmir said that ‘that there appears to be a clear conspiracy, as we see no justification in doing so since all the migrants are based in Jammu’. This move will put KPs to immeasurable sufferings, as they shall have to approach Srinagar for any problem or work. In a statement issued to the press Dr. Agnishekhar said that for the last 18 years the office of the Relief Commissioner was based at Jammu and the present move shall put the KP migrants to considerable harassment. As we understand there are different classes of migrants and political migrants being one of them for whom lump sum relief is being given to many leaders for onward distribution in Kashmir. To further facilitate the process of appropriation of relief, otherwise meant for the people who migrated from Kashmir in the wake of terrorist threats, it is sad that different classes of people have emerged who are not migrants but enjoying relief as political migrants and Muslim migrants, he alleged. It may be pertinent to mention here that a Zonal Officer of the Relief office visits Srinagar every month to disburse relief to these classes of migrants whose antecedents are shrouded in mystery. Under these circumstances, he questioned the urgency of shifting the Relief Commissioner to Srinagar and re-designating him as Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner. The office has no utility in Srinagar since the real migrants are in Jammu, he maintained. The move sinister as it appears has also to be seen in the context of expression of interest forms circulated in the office of the Relief Commissioner some time back to seek the particulars and consent of the migrants to go back to the valley. The move having already become in fructuous and fallen flat on its face, the present move of the Government to attach the office of the Relief Commissioner with that of the Darbar Move is wholly unjustified and smacks of ulterior motives and Panun Kashmir asks the Government to rescind the controversial orders, Dr. Agnishekhar added. |
