| ‘Etallat’ allegation totally baseless, mischievous: Spokesman | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 13
An official spokesman refuted the allegation appearing in a Srinagar Urdu daily (Etalaat) regarding a plan to kill Muslims in Mandi Rajpura. The spokesman described the allegation totally baseless, instigating and intended to flare up communal tension in the state. Spokesman said that an incident of burning some Khulas (temporary sheds) of Gujjars occurred at Rajpura Mandi under the jurisdiction of Kanachak Police Station on August 1 and in this connection an FIR has already been registered at Kanachak Police Station against five person vide FIR No. 96/2008 under section 307/452/436/147/148/149/323 RPC. SHO Police Station Kanachak Ravinder Singh has taken up investigation, he added. Further District Administration immediately provided 5 big tents, 20 plastic sheets for ordinary tents, 20 kitchen sets, 50 blankets, 2 quintals of rice and Atta to each affected . Besides Rs. 4,000 per affected family have also been provided as an interim relief and actual loss is being worked out by the authorities. Also to restore confidence among them they have been provided the security of Army and Police. The Army has also organized free langer and ration for them, the spokesperson further added. There was absolutely no tension in the area and people are living very comfortably. The incident of burning Khulas has been widely condemned by the people of Jammu. |
