EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | SEPT 7 Director General, Resettlement, Major Gen. Harwant Krishan, visited Jammu and took stock position at Zila Sainik Welfare Board. He also interacted with the officials and members of the board. It is pertinent to mention here the Director of Sainik Welfare Deptt. J&K Rajya Sainik Board was established in J&K state immediately after independence. Earlier this was known soldiers and Airmen Board, which was later, re-designated as Sainik Welfare Deptt. Rajya Sainik Board. The main function of the organization is to help the Ex-servicemen, War Widows, widows and their wards in their re-settlement. In addition to this, the Rajya Sainik Board provides relief and other assistance to the needy ex-servicemen, war widows, widow and their wards. In the J&K State there are 80,725 Ex-servicemen, which includes 16,563 widows. The main concessions, which have been given by the state Govt. to the Ex-servicemen widows and their wards.
