It was expected.Nothing surprising about the way Pakistan expressed concern over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.The Pakistan Foreign Office made a crisp statement on the developments in Jammu and Kashmir by expressing concern over the violence in the state which it said had "serious humanitarian implications."It had nothing to say on the disclosure made by none other than the National Security Adviser,M.K.Narayanan,who stated that 800 terror cells had been unearthed in the country.India had to describe Pakistan's statement on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as "interference in internal matters of India."Well Pakistan's interference in the internal affairs in Jammu and Kashmir has not been a new phenomenon.It has been going on since 1947 when Jammu and Kashmir acceded to India.And Pakistan has been,during the last 60 years,in the look out for an opportunity for grabbing Kashmir.It launched full armed attack on the state three times.In 1999 it carried out an armed adventure or misadventure on the Kargil heights.
And since 1989 it has been aiding and sustaining terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir on one hand and on the other exhibiting its sincere urge for promoting friendly relations with India.Despite having received substantial monetary and military aid from the USA Islamabad has not initiated measures for checking crossborder terrorism.Had it wished it could have stopped its land being used for breeding terrorists who were later pushed into Jammu and Kashmir.So the same country that encourages terrorism,which results in death of civilians,more than 40,000 civilians have been killed in militancy related violence during the last 19 years,is now shedding tears over the "humanitarian"problem in Jammu and Kashmir.Whatever level of violence is being witnessed in Kashmir during the last two days is a product of Pakistan sponsored terrorism otherwise agitators in the valley had no reason to display Pakistani flags and the pictures of M.A.Jinnah.Against this demonstrators,protesting against revocation of the land order,in Jammu faced bullets and lathis while carrying the tricolour in their hands.
One wishes to know whether Pakistan tries to interfere in the internal matters of India or Jammu and Kashmir as an Islamic country or as immediate neighbour of India ?If it tries to interfere in India's internal matters as an Islamic country why do not other Islamic countries do it ?If it interferes in internal matters of India as its immediate neighbour why other neighbouring countries are silent ? It is not difficult to fathom the reason for it.Whenever Pakistan is faced with some political or security crisis it attempts at diverting peoples' interest by raking up the Kashmir issue.This is what is happening in Pakistan.When on Tuesday 14 people were killed in Kashmir and Kishtwar in police firing 14 people in Pakistan fell dead when terrorists blew up an Airforce bus in a bomb explosion.The ruling coalition in Pakistan is faced with severe conflicts and the bid to impeach President Parvez Musharraf have given new dimensions to the political instability in Pakistan.Consequently,Islamabad has again tried to divert peoples' attention by referring to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.It would have been better if Pakistan supplemented India's efforts for promoting peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.Poitical analysts are sceptical about it when Pakistan has started blaming the Indian agencies for fomenting violence in Pakistan. |
