Prof Om advises Farooq to stop administering threats
‘Describes it as manifestation of frustration’

Advising National Conference patron Dr. Farooq Abdullah to exercise restraint and not to make threatening statements, BJP State Vice-President and Spokesperson Prof. Hari Om today asked him (Farooq) and other Kashmir-based communal leaders to retrospect and review their whole stand on the land diversion issue. Dr Abdullah must explain as to what exactly he means by “Kashmiri psyche is affected”. What is Kashmiri psyche? asked Prof Hari Om.
“Dr. Abdullah should stop preaching secularism as everyone knows that the NC has always stood for and preached a communal and intolerant ideology. Its contempt for the Indian Constitution and demand for dispensation outside the Indian Constitutional framework is nothing but a manifestation of its belief in an ideology which is exclusivist, parochial and extremely intolerant”, said Prof. Hari Om. The speech NC President Omar Abdullah made in Parliament on July 22 was not only poisonous and insidious in nature, but also a naked onslaught on the cardinal principles of secularism and democracy, added Prof. Om.
Reflecting on Dr. Abdullah’s threat that the people of Jammu must call off their agitation on the land revocation issue and his outrageous charge that the BJP is spreading communal hatred across the country, Prof. Om said that the ongoing mass movement in Jammu (and the support it has been getting from the entire nation) is not just secular but also completely peaceful and legitimate. The people of Jammu have the right to protest the communal opposition in Kashmir to the land diversion decision and that the alienated people of Jammu shall take rest only after achieving their two fundamental demands, expulsion of Governor N.N. Vohra from the state and re-diversion of land to the SASB. “No power on earth can deter them as they are religiously committed to the issue of national import”, declared BJP spokesman.
Further commenting on Dr. Abdullah’s threat that “if the ongoing agitation over Amarnath land transfer row in Jammu region and rest of the country is not called off, it would have dire consequences” and that India should get itself “ready for what will follow this episode”, Prof. Om described it as a manifestation of his frustration, desperation and defeat. He said that the Indian nation is a very powerful and it knows how to neutralize the baneful influence of the likes of Dr. Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and so on. He asked him to recall the circumstances under which he, Saif-ud-Din Soz, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mehbooba Mufti were shown the door on August 9, when the all-party delegation visited Jammu. “That was the people’s concrete response to the kind of divisive and intolerant politics the valley-based leaders have been indulging in to vitiate the Amarnath Yatra, de-secularize the polity and disturb the socio-religious and political equilibrium in Jammu”, asserted Prof. Om adding that ‘it would be only prudent if the likes of Farooq Abdullah stop administering threats and making provocative statements.
Commenting on the nature of opposition in Kashmir to the land diversion order, Prof. Hari Om said that it was rabidly communal and intolerant, and added that the worst role in the whole anti-Jammu and anti-secular episode was played by the Congress, which threw to the wind all norms of democracy and snatched from the Shrine Board the land which had been diverted to it lawfully. “Congress is the real culprit, Congress is responsible for giving dangerous respectability to the Kashmiri separatist and communal psyche; Congress is directly responsible for putting Jammu on fire and playing with the nationalist and secular psyche of its people”, said the BJP spokesman.
