| Sukhnandan accuses centre of adopting biased approach towards Jammu farmers | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 14
Accusing Union government and JKPCC President Prof Saif-ud-din Soz of adopting biased approach towards the agrarian Community of Jammu province BJP Kissan Morcha President Ch. Sukhnandan today said that neither the Union Government nor the state Congress has learnt any lesson from the ongoing mass movement in Jammu against the discriminatory and communal policies of the State administration. Sukhnandan said it is strange that while the Union Home Minister and Saif-ud-Din Soz have the audacity of asking the State Governor to compensate the fruit growers in Kashmir for the so-called losses suffered by them due to the so-called blockade on the national highway, they have completely overlooked the sufferings of the Jammu farmers and vegetables growers, who have suffered heavy losses not only due to the ongoing strike but also due to the adverse weather conditions, which led to the destruction of crops and vegetables on a massive scale. He said it is the farmer and vegetable growers who need to be substantially compensated for the losses they have suffered, and not the apply growers in Kashmir as the apples get ripe only in September. Ch. Sukhnandan in a statement also drew the attention of the authorities to non-availability of fertilizers in Jammu province, which has further added to the woes of the small and marginal farmers in Jammu. He said any failure on the part of the authorities not to take note of the losses the farmers have suffered and non-availability of Urea fertilizers would further provoke the people of Jammu to give a more radical orientation to their approach. |
