| PDP demands probe into Kishtwar incident | | | Early Times Reporter Kishtwar | Aug 14
An emergent meeting of the Kishtwar unit of People Democratic Party (PDP) was held today to assess the prevailing situation in the town and adjoining localities. Meeting, while expressing concern over loss of lives and properties in Tuesday's violence, took strong exception of the news items published in a section of media in which party leader Farooq Ahmed was blamed for leading the procession. It was made clear in the meeting that Farooq Ahmed was not present in the procession and he was at his business establishment when violence took place in the town. Senior vice president of the district unit of the party, Joginder Mahajan, while addressing the meeting said that party leader Farooq Ahmed himself became victim of the violence as he has suffered huge loss in arson and looting. "What to say of instigating people, Farooq was himself struggling to protect his own life and property in the violence ", he said and pointed out that business establishment of Farooq Ahmed was set on fire by some miscreants. Calling upon party workers to frustrate designs of anti-social elements, Mahajan appealed people to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood. He further pointed out that senior PDP Sayed Asghar Ali, while addressing series of public meetings, some days back, had urged the people to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood at any cost. PDP workers while condemning loss of human lives and property in the violence demanded a probe to single out the real culprits. Party called upon the people to strengthen communal harmony and brotherhood to frustrate designs of anti-national elements. Qazi Mushtaq Ahmed, Ashok Sharma, Ishtaq Ahmed Waza, Doulat Ram Shan, Suresh Kumar Sharma and Ghulam Hyder Giri also addressed the meeting. |
