At least eleven laborers most of them non-local were killed and another injured, when a truck they were traveling in skidded off the road and rolled down in deep gorge at deep gorge near Anokhi fall at Batri-Chashma near Ramban on Jammu Srinagar National Highway this morning. Sources said that a truck carrying laborers most of them non-local rolled down at Batri-Chashma resulting in on the stop death of eleven persons and injuries to another who is said to be the driver of the truck. On receiving the information Police and Locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of BSF. "Eleven dead bodies have been recovered and shifted to the Ramban emergency Hospital, while the rescue operation was going on", a BSF officer told NAK adding the dead bodies were shifted to Ramban emergency hospital. The ill-fated truck (JK02S-7665) was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu when it met with the tragic accident. According to eye witnesses the rescue operation was going with BSF, police and locals shifting the dead to Hospital. The deceased have been identified as (1) Mukhtar Ahmed s/o Ab.Gani r/o Metra Ramban (2) Dharam Raj s/o Gaya Parshad r/o Rai Barelley (3) Naresh s/o Mahaveer r/o Ambara Rai Barelley (4) Kuldeep Raj s/o Shunnu r/o Hira Nagar Kathua (5) Sayed Murtaza Shah s/o Sayed Mohd Afzal r/o Bandi Uri and (6) Manare s/o Ramoo r/o Rai Barelly, whereas identities of the five deceased are being yet to be ascertained. However, the injured driver of the truck namely Khursheed s/o Fathey Mohd r/o Ramban has been shifted to Government Medical College Jammu for specialized treatment. Meanwhile, one person namely Devinder Kumar was crushed to death by a train Pooja Express near Hira Nagar this morning. Jammu Srinagar National Highway is the only road link which connects Kashmir to rest of the country. |
