Suggesting to the valley centric political leaders and the separatists to demonstrate spirit of accommodation and tolerance which could facilitate settlement of the land row paralyzing normal life in the entire state, the Panthers Party general secretary Harshdev Singh has said that ‘it is for the people of Kashmir and their leaders to understand the basic cause and purpose of diversion of land to the SASB. Expressing deep concern over the loss of human lives in both the regions of the state Panthers Party general secretary, Harsh Dev Singh, today said "it is for people of Kashmir and their leaders to understand the basic cause and purpose for the diversion of 800 kanals of land to the Shrine Board. He said the piece of land was to be used by the Board for only a period of two months and there should have been no reason for kicking up fuss and turmoil over the land diversion’. Harsh Dev Singh said the land had not been diverted to any individual but to a Board comprising prominent people. In reply to a question he said Jammuties had shown "tolerance" during the last over 50 years and now it was the turn of people of Kashmir to demonstrate magnanimity and pragmatism so that an early solution was found to the issue. The Panthers Party leader said "the land issue shall have to be resolved and urged the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to realize the gravity of the situation in Jammu where people were willingly facing odds during the last over 43 days. He said it was for the first time that the entire population of the Jammu region had taken to the streets against the revocation of the land order and hence the Prime should act fast and not again succumb to the pressure being mounted by the separatists in Kashmir who have given a new dimension to the land issue by clamoring over economic blockade when there was no such blockade. He said the land row is not a simple issue when the religious sentiments of people in the Jammu region stand hurt and it would be test to the sagacity and leadership quality of the Prime Minister if he succeeds in defusing the crisis by restoring land to the Board for just two months. |
