| Various social, trade bodies celebrate I-Day | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 15
The 62nd Independence Day of India was celebrated with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm by various cultural, social and trade organizations across Jammu region today, when they exchanged greetings and distributed sweets. Like other parts of the country, 62nd Independence Day was celebrated with traditional fervour and enthusiasm in Jammu today. The main function was held at Mini Stadium, Parade here this morning. Advisor to Governor, Dr. Sudhir S. Bloeria unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, Armed Police, Civil Defence, J&K Women Police, Armed Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Forest Protection Force and NCC cadets drawn from various schools took part in the march past. Congratulating people on the auspicious occasion, Dr. Bloeria said that after independence, the Jammu and Kashmir stepped in an era of all round development and progress in all the three regions. “Today we are proud to have made multi-faceted development in every sphere”, he added. Socialistic Democratic Party president Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today hoisted the national TRICOLOUR at a very well attended public function held at Shaheed Bahadur Singh Memorial Road at Digiana. She was accompanied by many SDP leaders,Municipal Councellors and senior citizens on the occasion. The ceremony was attended by about four thousand people. In her address, with brightness and pride on her face,she said that she represents the common people of the state and presenting a common Kashmiri in the mask of separatism is not realy true picture. She said that it was because of the weakness of the rulers my country that anti-nationalism and separatism grows beyong magnitude and dejects and dismays every nationalist but I pray and wish on this auspicious day that the leadership of this great country shuns this impotency and deals very tough with all separatists and pseudo-separatists to pave way in the real sense for India becoming VISHWAGURU.. To pay the homage and tribute to our motherland Delhi Public School, Jammu celebrated the 62nd Independence Day in the school campus by hoisting the National Flag. The teachers showed their love for the motherland by playing instrumental music, dancing and singing patriotic songs. Mr S.S Birwal from Delhi Public School Jammu addressed the teachers and conveyed that we at DPS Jammu are responsible for the vast area of education that have a significant role to play in the society because we shape the young minds and groom the personality of the young children. Mrs. Roshni Aima, Headmistress, DPS Jammu gave away the vote of thanks and conveyed that we as teachers must resolve to teach our students to conserve the unity and integrity of the Nation by giving the value based education that could make the students not only the responsible citizens of the future but would also make them citizens with character and integrity.
Tiger Division too celebrated 62nd Independence Day at Tiger War Memorial in which serving and retired soldiers participated. The celebration commenced with wreath laying ceremony. Wreaths were laid by GOC, Tiger Division, formation commanders and senior retired officers and soldiers. Prominent amongst the retired soldiers were, Maj Gen (Retired) GS Jamwal, Maj Gen(Retired) JS Jamwal, Maj Gen (Retired) Brij Nath Dhar, Maj Gen (Retired) ML Mangotra, Brig (Retired) KS Kotwal and Brig (Retired) RL Sharma. However, the cynosure of all eyes was the presence of Subedar Major & Honorary Captain (Retired) Bana Singh, PVC the winner of the highest gallantry award of the country. The Independence Day function was celebrated in Satwari Cantonment with enthusiasm in which the proceedings commenced in true military traditions of the Indian Army wherein homage was paid to the martyrs who had laid down their lives for the country. The Army buglers sounded the ‘last post’ followed by a two minutes silence to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs. After the solemn function of wreath laying was over the occasion was celebrated with gaiety, pomp and show. The entire Satwari cantonment and satellite Military Stations gave a colourful nationalist flavour with national flags fluttering on all buildings of the Army units and soldiers displaying pinup national flags proudly on their chests. Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof. Amitabh Mattoo today asked the JU fraternity to work for bringing peace and strengthening brotherhood in Jammu and Kashmir. Prof. Amitabh Matoo was addressing the JU fraternity after unfurling the tricolour on the eve of 62nd Independence Day at University Campus here this morning. The 62nd Independence Day function was attended by Deans, HODs Professors, Associated Professors and Assistant Professors of various departments besides the officials from administration. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo impressed upon the University fraternity to work for bring peace and strengthening brotherhood and communal harmony in the state. "To maintain peace and brotherhood in this difficult hour, It is high time to strengthen the century old tradition of maintaining brotherhood and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir," Prof. Amitabh Mattoo said President Dogra Sadhar sabha and MLC Gulchain Singh Charak hoisted the National Flag at a function held at Dogra Sadhar sabha . The function was attended by large numbers of people. While speaking on the occasion Charak paid rich tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for attaining Independence and explained in depth, the importance of the day. Senior Congress leaders and workers celebrated the Independence Day at various laces in the region, while the main function was held at Pradesh congress headquarter, where the national flag was hated by freedom fighter, Om Chopra. On the accession leaders and workers took a pledge to fight against the forces of communalism, fundamentalism and to work for unity, integrity of the state and country. Present on the occasion were Dharampal Sharma, S. Parduman Singh, S. Gurmukh Singh, Mula Ram, G. S Charak, Indu Pawar, Kanta Bhan, D.S Langeh, K.L Abrol, Chaman Jain, Raval Mattoo, Ch. Abdul Hamid, Subash Sharma,Kulbhushan Sharma, Madan Lal Malagar and Hussain Bakshi. The Inmates of handicap home at Udyewala celebrated Independence Day celebration with enthusiasm here today. Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion unfurled the national flag. Addressing the inmates and residents of the area urged upon the youth to protect and preserve the freedom achieved by after countless suffering and sacrifice strengthen the bonds of secularism. He also cautioned against the forces who are bent upon to weaken the nation on all fronts. Sharma on the occasion provided ambulance to home of use of its inmates etc.
Chairman PCC labor cell, Hari Singh Chib, in presence of ex. Minister Mulla Ram heisted national flag at Gujjar Muhalla, Paloura. He on the occasion said, every citizen of the country had responsibility to preserve hard earned freedom. Congress morkers also celebrate the Independence Day function at Seri Bazaar Nagar, Bhaderwah, Nowshera, Sundarbani, Shastri Nagar (Jammu) Satwari and Tikri, Udhampur. The function was attended by large number of people which was addressed by the senior congress leaders, which threw light on freedom struggle and the role played by leaders of the time. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in connection with 62nd Independence Day, organized an impressive function at party headquarters at Gandhi Nagar Jammu. Amidst shouting of patriotic slogans, senior party leaders hoisted the National Flag and vowed to frustrate designs of divisive and communal forces. Samajwadi Party celebrated 62nd Independence day in which the national flag was hoisted by Party president Sheikh Abdul Rehman in the presence of Ram Parkash Sharma, BS choudhary, Pritam Gupta and Col. (Retd) BS Choudahry. The Chief Engineer PHE Department, V K Goswami, hoisted the National Flag at a function held at Company Bagh, which was organized by State body of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) under the presidentship of Shiv Kumar Sharma. the participants included workers and ministerial staff of the Department. Punjab National Bank today celebrated Independence day at Gandhi Nagar Branch where the National Flag was hoisted by Asstt. General Manager, BL Jain along with other office bearers Dr. BM Padha, Mohan Sharma, SK Jain and Batra. Janta Dal (United) celebrated the occasion where its senior laeder Vishnu Kumar Mishra hoisted the National flag. Jat Kalyan Sabha also celebrated the Independence day with fervor and gaiety. Trade Union Congress celebrated the day at its head office where President of TUC Subash Chander Sharma along with Deedar Singh, Madam Sharma, Deepak Sharma and Sham Lal hoisted the National Flag A Prominent leader from Samba and member of Sangarsh Samiti , Satwant Dogra today hoisted the National flag at five places across the Samba District amidst hundreds of people shiting slogans of “ Bham Bham Bholey”, Bharat Mata Ki Jai and “Sanjeev Sunny Amar Rahein”. In Samba, parents of the martyrs sanjeev Singh and Pawan Padha hoisted the National Flag at hari Chowk Samba. Shree Amarnath Shrine Sahatya Samiti under the banner of Shri Amarnath Sangarsh samiti celebrated the occasion at Ramlila Ground Janipur where the national flag was Unfurled by the PawaN Kohli. SOS Children Villag Channi Rama celebrated the Independence day with colorful bonanza . Children on the occasion gave the message of Unity and solidarity through the variety of patriotic songs. Saying that strenuous efforts were still requisite to eradicate poverty, illiteracy and achieve new highs in the fields of science, technology, health care, education etc, conducive atmosphere and people’s involvement was imperative. Members of Amarnath Sangrash Samiti also heisted the national flag and paid tributes to martyrs who sacrifice their life for the cause. At Kathua: Like other parts of the country, 62nd Independence Day was celebrated at Kathua with great patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. The main function was held at District Police Lines, Kathua where District Development Commissioner, Ms. Mandeep Kaur hoisted the national tricolor and took salute of the parade. At Basohli : SDM Basohli and in Hatmaska , National flag was hoisted by NHPC GM , VK Rattan. At Nowshera : 62nd Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour here this morning. SDM Nowshera, Harbinder Kour unfurled the national tricolor and took salute from the march past. At Udhampur : Braving heavy down pour, the District Administration, various political and social organizations celebrated the 62nd. Independence Day function at Udhampur with gaiety and patriotic fervour in the premises of PG Degree College for Boys, Udhampur, today. The District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ajay Khajuria who was the chief guest on the occasion unfurled the National flag followed by the march past of contingents led by Parade Commander, Dy. S.P.(DAR), Mr. Bodh Raj drawn from District Police, SKPA, Forest Protection Force, NCC and School children students. At Rajouri: 62nd Independence Day was celebrated through out the district with national fervour and gaiety at the sprawling groundS of District Police Lines, Rajouri today. District Development Commissioner, Rajouri Sheikh Rafiq Ahmed unfurled the tricolour and took salute from the ceremonial parade comprising of CRPF, IRP J&K, J&K Police, Auxiliary Police, Forest Protection Force and contingents of children of various schools. At Doda: Like other parts of the state, the 62th Independence day was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervor in District Doda, today. The main function was celebrated at District Headquarter Doda. The Deputy Commissioner, Doda Mr. Syed Sharif-ud-Din unfurled the flag and took salute from the march past by contingents of JKP,JKAP,FPF, NCC and school children. At Assar :Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. National flag was unfurled and students of various educational institutions presented a colorful cultural programme. A large number of people of the area attended the function. At Bhadarwah: Despite inclement weather, 62nd Independence Day was celebrated in Bhadarwah with full enthusiasm and traditional gaiety.. The national flag was hoisted here by SDM Bhadarwah Mr.Kalyan Singh Parihar who also took the salute at the march past. At Poonch: 62nd Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour here this morning. The DDC, Poonch, Mr. Mohammad Afzal urfurled the national tricolor and took salute from the march past. At Reasi : 62nd Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour at Sports Stadium Reasi today. The Day long celebrations started with the plying of Shehnai Vadan and patriotic songs from the Kalka Mandir Reasi by the Information Department in the wee hours. At Mahore : SDM, Mahore hoisted the national tricolor and took salute of parade of contingents of Police, Army and school children. Brig. V.K Prohit was the chief guest. Children drawn drawn from different schools presented a cultural programme depicting patriotic theme. At Kishtwar : Amidst tension and curfew, the 62nd Independence Day was celebrated at district headquarter with gaiety and fervor. Main function was held in the Revenue Complex where the District Development Commissioner, Sudarshan Sharma hoisted the National Flag and took salute of the march past by the contingents of JKAP and Forest Protection force on the occasion. At R.S. Pura : SDM, Mr. Romesh Chander unfurled the National Flag in his office premises. At Katra: 62nd Independence Day was celebrated with the spirit of patriotism at Katra today. The main function was held at Government Higher Secondary School Katra where Sub Divisional Magistrate Katra Mr. Ram Rattan Sharma unfurled the National flag and took salute of march past by contingents drawn from JKP, CRPF & NCC. Independence Day was celebrated with traditional pomp and gaiety at Police Academy, Udhampur where Director, SKPA, Mr. Navin Aggarwal unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the function held at the parade ground in the Academy premises. Addressing the Police officers and staff, Mr. Aggarwal emphasized upon the policemen to act with restraint and maintain their cool even in the face of grave provocation while maintaining law and order. He stressed upon the need to inculcate professionalism in the Police force to enable them to act with maturity and firmness when required to save lives and property of law abiding citizens. A scintillating cultural programme was also organized on the occasion which was witnessed by the spectators and families of the staff of the Academy followed by prize distribution by Aggarwal to participating children. Sweets were also distributed on the occasion. AT Leh :The 62nd Independence-Day celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety where the Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Chhering Dorje hoisted the National flag at an impressive March Past. Thousands of people including foreign and domestic tourists witnessed the function. Highlighting the importance of the Day, Chhering Dorje recalled the struggles and sacrifices of the National leaders in achieving independence for India. Looking back to India’s 60 years of Independence and its movement towards progress, Mr. Dorje said that the country is now all set to become superpower with immense growth in economy. He said that Ladakh too achieved satisfying development in every sectors after the independence. Referring to the present education scenario of Leh distt., Mr. Dorje said that more then 21,000 students are currently studying in both Govt. as well as private schools and a good number of students are receiving education outside the distt. as well in other States. At Kargil: 62nd Independence day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaety at kahree sultan Cho Sports Stadium , Kargil. The chief Executive Councilor LAHDC , Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalaie hoisted the National Flag followed by National anthem and took a salute of colorful March past in which contingents of J&k Police , NCC and various troops educational institutions took part. |
