| Pranab cautions Pak to keep off J&K issue | | | New Delhi | Aug 15
India has cautioned Pakistan that its comments on the developments in Jammu and Kashmir does not help create the "right type of atmosphere" to carry on the composite dialogue. External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said India does not interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan and expects Islamabad to +do the same. "It (Pakistan’s comments on events in Jammu and Kashmir) does not help create the right type of atmosphere for carrying on the composite dialogue," he told TimesNow news channel. Mukherjee was reacting to comments by his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi who regretted the "excessive and unwarranted use of force" against people in Jammu and Kashmir. New Delhi reacted sharply asking Islamabad not to interfere in its internal affairs. Mukherjee said that India responded only when Pakistan directly issued statements and attempted to interfere in "our internal affairs." Asked whether Pakistan was taking advantage of India’s compulsions to continue with the peace process, he said New Delhi had "adequately addressed" these issues in meetings with Pakistani authorities on the margins of the SAARC summit. "The concerns have been adequately addressed, expressed and Pakistan authorities are fully aware of it," Mukherjee said. "The fact of the matter is that the Indian government has done what is just and proper and we will continue to do so," he said. |
