| Centenary year of ‘Vande Matram’ celebrated with great enthusiasm | | Vande Mataram echoes across all educational institutions | | EARLY TIEMES REPORTER JAMMU | SEPT 7 The centenary year of ‘Vande Matram’, a patriotic song written y late Bankim Chander Chatterjee which gave moral boost to the freedom fighters of the country to fight against the Britishers was celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the Jammu regions. Function was held at various educational institutions and political party HQs were leaders threw light on the importance of this national song. The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee to celebrate the event organized a function at its office here, were MLA and Ex-Minster Yogesh Sawhney was the chief guest, While Distt. Chairman Congress Seva Dal, Shashikant Dhiman hoisted the tricolour. Present on the occasion were Kum. Tamana, Manju Bala, Harbans Lal, Chanchal Sadhotra, Madan Malagar, Ramesh, Pardeep Bhagat, Yash Pal Kapoor and Block congress presidents. Pradesh Congress Seva Dal organized function at PCC headquarter, which was [resided by B.S. Sambyal, while senior vice president Pradesh Congress Committee and MLC Abdul Gani Vakil was the chief guest and hoisted the national flag. Speaking on the occasion Vakil said people of the all regions and communities of the country must learn this National Song (Vande Matram) by heart and feel proud of it. This song has same status what national enthum has he said and added it is pray to Mother India written in Sanskrit Vakil, said, muslim children should feel proud to sing Vande Matram. While addressing the gathering Sambyal said, Vande Matram inculculatedt he feelings of consciousness and self-report among poor, down trodden, helpless Indians. He said this song inspired the countrymen to free the motherland from foreign rule. He said Vande Matram and Seva Dal become the integral part of history of freedom. Among others who attended the function were Vinod Sharma, J.K Koul, Diwan Chand, Rajni Sharma, S.S.Jamwal, Surinder Singh and Anil Sharma. The urban unit of BJP celebrated the function at party headquarters, which was chaired by the state party president Dr. Nirmal Singh. The workers on the occasion showered flowers on the portrait of Bharat Mata, while small children’s of Kids Kudos School sung Vande Matram. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Singh said Bankim Chander Chatterjee in 1875 wrote novel ‘Anadmath’, which contains this song under the title Vande Matram, which was adopted as National Song in 1906. He said it was this song while was on the tongue of great Indians like Ashfaqullah Khan, Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Sukhdev and Khudi Ram Bose and added this song played a very important role in bringing the Indians closer against the foreign rulers. He said there is nothing wrong in singing a song, which brings people closer. He appealed the people not to get misled by the propaganda by a handful of elements who are bent upon to divide people for their petty gains the former Governor Babu Parmanand also addressed the gathering. The ex-mayor Kavinder Gupta recited a patriotic song on the occasion. Nehru Yuva Kendra, Jammu in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Club, Sarna Trivani Mandal Daboh and Multiple Research and aci\tion group salehar organized a function, were participants including women sang Vande Matram. On the occasion District Youth Coordinator, Nisar Ahmad Bhat apprised the gathering about the importance of this song. He stressed upon the youth t maintain communal harmony at all cost. Present in the occasion were Khemraj Sharma, Sushma Devi, Daleep Choudhary and others. VHP and Bajrang Dal in the evening took out a rally, which passed through the main bazaars of the city and reached City Chowk. The activist’s were carrying lights and banners in their hands and raising the slogans ‘ Vande Matram’. Later, VHP State President Rama Kant Dubey and Sushil Sudan Senior Bajrang Leader addressed the gathering. Meanwhile The National song Vande matram was echoed today to its maximum across all the educational institutions of Jammu on the occasion of its centenary despite nationwide controversy over its singing. Various student organizations also celebrated the occasion and recited the song vociferously in the campus of Jammu University (JU). Similarly, national song was also recited in various educational institutes in Jammu. In JU, Jammu State Student Morcha (JSSM) activists under the leadership of Sunil Sharma President JSSM assembled near the fountain and recited the song. D R Choudhary Associate Dean Students Welfare was also present on the occasion and recited the song along with students. Later they took out a rally in the campus to create awareness among the students about our national song. Vikas Sharma, research scholar while addressing the students briefed about the background and importance of the song. Pamphlets containing the song and its meaning were also distributed among the students. Similarly Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), National Conference Students Union (NCSU) and other student organizations also celebrated the centenary of national song in the university campus. Meanwhile, centenary celebration was also held at S N S school Talab Tillo. Students presented a small cultural programme based on Vande Mataram. Dr. Ramakant Dubey was presiding over the function which was attended by large audience.
