Jammu | Aug 15

After an overwhelmingly participated Independence Day ceremony organized by the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti, the leaders of the agitation asked the Government of India to wake up from its deep slumber and address the popular aspirations of the people of Jammu region.
In a veiled warning to the state and the central government against delay in resolving the ongoing crisis in the region, the Samiti declared its programe of Jail Bharo andolan to begin with August 18. It was informed that Samiti will organize a jail bharo andolan from 18th to 20th August 2008 , in which people thousands of people will court arrest in the various police stations in support of their demands of restoration of land, in the entire Jammu region.
The Samiti leaders expressed anguish that while the government is not giving any punishment to Mr. Afzal Guru who masterminded the attack on parliament and those who burn the national flag publically, there is a suppression of the nationalistic people who are raising their genuine grievances.
The Samiti expressed its concern that while the whole country is celebrating 62nd Independence Day the people of Kishtawar were deprived and detained under curfew, yet these nationalistic people celebrated the Independence Day and hoisted the national flag inside their individual localities. The Samiti demands immediate arrest and termination of the Superintendant of Police Kishtawar Haseeb Mughal, the main culprit behind the Kishtwar incidents. The Samiti also demanded the arrest and termination of erstwhile DSP Bakshi Nagar M.L.Kaith.
The Sangharsh Samiti expressed its deep concern over the indifferent attitude over the delay tactics adopted by the central government over the genuine demand of the people of Jammu involving their faith and declared that it will take drastic steps in case the issue is not resolved at the earliest and warned the government of dire consequences arising thereof.
The Samiti took strong exception to that fact that some people in the national print media for reasons best known to them were hell bent on defaming the Jammu agitation and used un-parliamentary language amounting to abuse, about the people of Jammu. This shows their total ignorance of the issue at hand and a biased attitude as it is a mass movement of the people of jammu in which the people even at village level have participated.
Narayan Singh, member, Sangharsh Samiti today during his tour of Raipur Domana, broke the fast unto death of Sh.Narinder Singh, Sarpanch & Sh. Rajeev Singh.
