Governor, N N Vohra, today reviewed the law and order situation obtaining in the State, particularly in Kashmir at a high level meeting here. Based on extensive discussions on public order issues, the meeting inter-alia, discussed the movement of essential commodities and fruit on the Lakhanpur-Jammu-Srinagar National Highway with, with particular attention to the inflow of petroleum products, LPG cylinders, livestock, medicines and other house-hold consumables. Various issues relating to the transportation of the Kashmir fruit to various markets in the plains were also discussed. The Governor reiterated the need for continuing effective and closely coordinated efforts for maintaining the inward/outward movement of important items round-the-clock and un-interrupted availability of essential commodities in all areas, particularly certain rural areas from where some complaints had been received during the day. The meeting was given detailed briefings on the law and order issue front and the movement of vehicular traffic carrying essential commodities on the National Highway. Those present in the meeting included the three Advisors to the Governor, H H Tyabji, Dr Sudhir S Bloeria and C Phunsog; Chief Secretary, S S Kapur; GOC 15 Corps, Lt Gen. Mukesh Sabherwal; Principal Secretary Home, Anil Goswami; DGP, Kuldeep Khuda; and Principal Secretary to Governor, B B Vyas. |
