| Prof Om criticizes Governor of equating nationalists with Kashmir based bigots | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 16
Criticizing the Governor N N Vohra for his attempt to equate the nationalists and tolerant people of Jammu with the Kashmir based bigots like Geelani, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba, state BJP vice president and spokesman Prof Hari Om said that Vohra’s statement has added more fuel to the fire and made the situation in the already angry and outraged Jammu region more volatile. Prof Om has said that ‘it would be desirable and more prudent if Governor maintains restraint and avoids making such statements which could further provoke the Jammuties. He said Jammu province has already been witnessing a unique movement against the Kashmiri separatists psyche and those in the Congress-led UPA Government at the centre and the state Raj Bhavan, are striving to the hilt to give respectability to the Kashmiri separatist and communal leadership and alienate the nationalist, secular and tolerant people of Jammu, he alleged. Reiterating his party’s stand, he said, the BJP is convinced that ‘the state Governor has yielded to the demands of Geelani and others in Kashmir and took away the land given to the SASB’. He also disapproved of the Governor’s assertion that ‘the land was not returned to anybody, it is there and is still in the use of the Shrine Board’. If this assertion of the Governor is correct then what made the Kashmiri leaders to celebrate the revocation of land order of July 1 as a great victory of the Islamic cause and against India, Prof Om asked? The BJP leader said that the Governor should remember that he is the constitutional head of the state and that his letter of June 28, which he wrote to the CM, was nothing but an onslaught on the Shrine Board Act, an attempt to appease the Kashmiri fanatics, he added. ‘Asserting that Vohra has to quit Raj Bhavan’ in order to create congenial atmosphere in Jammu region, Prof Om said ‘the people here regard Governor as a sinner and violator of the SASB Act and have made it clear umpteen times that they would neither meet him nor the Kashmir based fanatics and take rest only after the exit of Vohra from the state and restoration of land to the SASB’, the BJP spokesman said. |
