| Sopore fruit mandi resumes normal business | | Dispatches 50 fruit laden trucks to country's markets | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Aug 16
As the movement of load carriers on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and onwards has been secured and plying of trucks and tankers on the road is picking up momentum, the Sopore Fruit Mandi has started its normal functioning of transportation of fruit to the outside markets from today. Over 40, 000 fruit boxes have been loaded at the Mandi on 50 trucks today for dispatch to the terminal markets in the country. The Fruit Association Sopore and the truck owners have entered into the freight agreement for transhipment of Kashmir fruit to various markets in the country. As per the agreed rates, the freight charges form Sopore to Delhi for each fruit box has been fixed at Rs. 65 while the rates for transportation to Punjab will be Rs. 40- Rs 45 per box. The fruit boxes from various areas are reaching Sopore Mandi for onward transportation to the country's markets. Over 5000 fruit boxes reached the Mandi this afternoon which are being cleared by the evening. |
