| UPA decided to take initiative for govt: Soren | | |
Ranchi, Sep 8 Union Coal Minister Shibu Soren today said the UPA has decided to take initiative to form an alternative government in Jharkhand and its Chief Ministerial candidate would be decided in a day or two.
"As the Arjun Munda government has reduced to a minority, the UPA has decided to initiate for an alternative government in the state," the JMM supremo told PTI here.
Asked whether the UPA had the magic number for its claim to provide the alternative, Soren said, "the UPA has upto 45 MLAs." Asked whether independent MLA Madhu Koda has emerged as the consensus choice to lead the UPA, Soren said the subject had not yet been decided.
"Report can fly thick and fast, but the fact is right now there is no no decision on Chief Ministerial candidate," he said replying to reports that Koda's name had been considered as the possible choice.
Asked whether he was in the chief ministrial race, Soren said in his typical style "nobody is in the race." He, however, said "the final stamp of approval" would be given by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi as "she is our guardian". |
