Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha, president Pawn Khajuria was arrested by police today when he was leading a protest rally along with Sangrash Samiti workers today. He was later released by police unconditionally when hundreds of activists of Samiti assembled near local police station and warned them to desist from arresting their leader. To avoid confrontation with people and sensing gravity of situation police later released Khajuria unconditionally. Despite relaxation in curfew there was complete bandh in the city and the people took out huge rallies from different localities raising slogans in support of their demand. Addressing the protestors District Coordinator Vikram Slathia said that as per the program, already chalked out, five lakh rakhis were tied around the wrists of people throughout the Jammu region on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and a solemn pledge was taken to continue the agitation till the restoration of land. He reiterated that over 10,000 persons will court arrest tomorrow as part of the Samiti’s Jail Baro Andolan at district headquarters and other police stations of the District. The Sangarsh Samiti is committed to take the ongoing agitation to its logical conclusion, he added. |
