Srinagar | Aug 17

Officials on Sunday said that they would not allow people to assemble at United Nations Office in Sonwar here due to “security reasons.”
“We met Hurriyat leaders, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and conveyed our apprehensions to them. We told them that if huge gathering assembles at Sonwar it will lead to law and order problem. We requested them to cancel tomorrow’s program,” Senior Superintendent of police Srinagar, Syed Afad-ul-Mujtaba and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Kachoo Asfandyar, told reporters here.
The Coordination Committee, led by two factions of Hurriyat Conference, and represented by various political, religious, social and trader organizations Saturday urged people to join the Monday’s march to United Nations office here and continue the peaceful protests against the killing of the unarmed civilians by police and CRPF.
