Alleging that Pakistan has been extending support to the people of Kashmir against Jammu on Shri Amarnath Land issue, president of Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma has withdrawn himself from accompanying the Indian contingent to Pakistan as team manager. Shiv was assigned the job by the Indian Style Wrestling Federation of India to accompany the Indian contingent as manager for the event- six-day `First Mission Dosti Invitation Programme’ beginning from August 20 at two venues of Gujranwalan and Lahore. “My conscious does not permit me to visit a country which is party in destroying the secular fabric of India in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particularly. So, I quit myself as manager of the Indian wrestling team,” Shiv Kumar Sharma told Sports & Allied News. “Moreover, I have been associated with the ongoing agitation launched by Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti right from the day one and now don’t want to leave it (agitation) at this crucial stage,”, he informed Earlier, Shiv Kumar represented India as manager in the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship hosted by India at Pune in 1997. It is important to mention here that it was for the first time that Indian team is visiting Pakistan after 1947, under the banner of `First Mission Dosti Invitation Programme’ organized by Wrestling Federation of Pakistan. |
