Terming the threats of Omar Abdullah to resign from his Lok Sabha seat in case force was used against anti-India demonstrators in Kashmir as black mail tactics, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has said that by doing so the NC leader has exposed himself of being secular because he never uttered a word when brutal force was being used against demonstrators in Jammu.
‘Such pseudo secularists had been rather impressing upon the Governor and its administration to take touch measures to crush Jammu agitation’, he added and appealed to Jammuties to carry on their Sangarsh peacefully which is of course a fight between nationalistic outlook and the secessionism.
This was stated by Prof Gupta before courting arrest at Trikuta Nagar here in connection with the 3-day Jail Bharo Andolan program of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti. Hundreds of other volunteers including the Councilor S C Verma, also courted arrest along with Gupta and were lodged in a school building at Channi.
Prof Gupta regretted that instead of opting for a democratic approach to bow before the will of the nationalist masses of Jammu and also elsewhere in the country, the state Governor and the Government of India, during all these days adopted all the methods of oppression and suppression to crush the agitation.
Alleging that central leadership of Congress is little bothered about the sufferings of the agitating nationalist people, Prof Gupta said the deplorable behaviour of both the centre and the state governor clearly indicate that as in the past they are appeasing the separatists and fundamentalists because of their communal mindset .
