Intel: Terrorists may join hands with Hurriyat

Jammu & Kashmir government went into a tizzy following intelligence inputs suggesting that the terrorists may try to fish in troubled waters as the state has been on the boil for almost two months with violent street protests over the Amarnath land row claiming at least 40 lives.
Intelligence sources said terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and al-Umar have been asked to stay in touch with the top Hurriyat leaders to foment more trouble. They said intelligence agencies briefed governor N N Vohra on the radio intercepts suggesting possible attacks on senior Kashmiri leaders, including separatists to flare up the situation.
In keeping with the inputs, the authorities on Saturday removed paramilitary forces and the police enroute to Pampore in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, where people flocked in thousands to participate in slain Hurriyat leader Shiekh Abdul Aziz's Rashm-e-chahram (fourth day of mourning). Hurriyat's joint action committee had asked people to march to Pampore to participate in the chahram.
"We've been asked not to respond to mobs' provocations and stay put in our pickets," a CRPF constable said. Even Srinagar DIG's motorcade was seen giving way to a procession carrying black and green flags on its way to Pampore.
