Contrary to the reports about non- availability of medicines in Kashmir valley, a team constituted by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, under Deputy Controller Drug and Food Organization, Kashmir, today claimed that 80 per cent drugs were available while the other 20 per cent were available in substitute brands. The team who inspected various drugs sale establishments in Srinagar city to see the availability of medicines in the markets maintained that medicines were available and there was no cause of any concern. The manufacturers and distributors of the drugs whose substitutes are available have been persuaded to immediately rush their supplies to Kashmir. The team also inspected the shop of M/S World Line Medicines at Khayam Chowk who had alleged that supplies of Aciloc and Paracetamol medicines were not available and on search the team found. The team found sufficient quantity of Aciloc and Paracetamol medicines in his stock. Disciplinary action has been initiated against the proprietor of the medical shop for misleading the public. Meanwhile, the Deputy Controller Drug and Food Organization, Kashmir had a meeting with Srinagar Chemists and Distributors Association who assured that normal supplies shall be ensured to all retail outlets. The Association said that due to the prevailing hartals and strike, the distribution of the medicines, by wholesalers to the retailers, has been hampered. In case of any shortage the people have been advised to contact the phone Nos. 2495191 or Cell No. 9419017140. The Srinagar Chemists and Distributors Associations have asked people not to get panicky regarding the supply position of medicines. |
