They don’t mean what they profess

If not the separatists at least leaders of mainstream political parties are heard professing their urge for ameliorating the lot of people. They are heard shouting at the top of their voices that they,as leaders, have the task of uplifting the downtrodden and the poor out of morass.Unlike the separatists mainstream political leaders have diverse activities to perform.Separatists have one-point agendaof misleading people in the name of religion, region and extraterritorial ambition. They have one thing special about their
behaviour. If they profess being secular they are secular to the coreof their heart. If they profess they are communal they do not hidetheir feelings.Instead they display it in any measure they wish to doit. And those who profess being the champions of secularism are usually adopting communal approach.
But these mainstream political parties should have been forced to introspect by the unfortunate events that have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir for the last 50 days. They have not done so.They are engaged in outwitting their political rivals simply for the purpose of keeping their vote bank intact.Had these mainstream political leaders
done some home work they should have,by now, realised the gravity of the situation in the state which called for their assistance in bringing people out of the mess they find themselves in.These mainstream political leaders should have thought of the youth in the
state.Educational institutions stand shut in the Jammu region for the last about 40 days.Their academic activities stand paralysed.Do we wait for the rise of uneducated, ignorant and intolerant youth?Invariably minstream political leaders speak about the importance of freedom of speech, expression and movement. They are heard
telling people to enjoy these freedoms as provided in the constitution.Do they ever consider whether the ongoing events and developments in the state, particularly in the Kashmir valley, ensure these freedoms ? If they ponder for a while they will find these
freedoms having been muzzled.
Have these leaders ever bothered to understand the implications of cash crunch which the people suffer from? Certainly not.Have these leaders ever tried to know the difficulties and problems people face on account of prolonged shutdown ? Certainly not. They have been enjoying the fruit of success they feel they have achieved when millions of people in Kashmir and Jammu have willingly and voluntarily responded to the call for shutdown and protest rallies against the land loss.Evidently mainstream political leaders in Jammu are not to be blamed for everything that keeps on happening. They are being
provoked by the separatists and the valley centric political leaders who keep on inciting people on one issue or the other.and in therowing regional divide Jammu based mainstream political leaders do not want to be brow beaten by those in Kashmir and the vice versa. It is almost a tussle for supremacy between the valley centric political leaders and those from the Jammu region.
The basic mistake is that one side believes that their gain is loss for the other and the other side is not prepared to face any loss of face.It has boiled down to the problem of ego.And those who suffer from ego problem usually lose sight of the realities of the problem and the plight of people. The latest provocaton from the separatrists has been their call for UNO chalo, meaning march to the United Nations Military Observers Group headquarters in Srinagar for seeking UN intervention in getting the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road opened for trade and for settling the Kashmir issue.Let people go to dogs,it is not their worry.Let people die,it is not their headache.Their urge is to register their strength
