| Gupta objects frequent use of armed forces | | Says UPA govt. has no moral, constitutional right to stay in power’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 20
Strongly objecting to the frequent use of armed forces, especially the Army, against the civilians in border areas of Jammu, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said that it was highly intriguing that army is being employed to crush the movement of the nationalists who have been supporting troops in their fight against Pak invaders and terrorist in the proxy war launched against India from across the border. Addressing a large gathering of Satyagrahis at Katra before courting arrest, Prof Gupta took strong exception to the imposition of curfew for days together and said that all this showed that the Governor’s administration is operating under pressures of certain leaders of the Congress, PDP, NC and also of Hurriyat Conference, who have exposed themselves by hurting the faith of crores of nationalists of the country, including those of Jammu and Kashmir, who are of the firm view that entire country is one and all people should have the equal rights over the land of the country. Praising the courage and determination of the masses of Jammu to face the wrath of the forces and the enemy agents operating from within and outside the administration, the BJP leader has once again appealed the people to maintain their unity and harmony to frustrate the designs of their enemies. Assailing the Congress led UPA government at the centre for not taking any action against those who are insulting the national tricolour and raising anti- national slogans, Prof Gupta observed ‘that this government has lost the entire moral and even the constitutional rights to stay in power adding that no one is entitled to stick to chairs who cannot protect the pride and honour of the nation’. ‘Dragging their feet even in the implementation of the High Court orders clearly indicates that how weak and incompetent dispensation is that of Sonia chaired UPA’, the BJP leader said though the land issue is linked with the faith of the nationalists but the mass upsurge also shows the outburst of accumulated anger amongst the people because of the step motherly treatment meted out to them. |
