| JKNPP hunger strike enters 17th day; several leaders court arrest | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 20
While the rally hunger strike launched by the JKNPP workers, in support of the ongoing mass movement for return of land to SASB, entered for the 17th day today, several party workers courted arrest at various police stations to express their solidarity with the ongoing Jail Bharo Andolan organized by the Sangarsh Samiti. A team of party workers from Dumana led by Shanker Singh Chib zonal President Young Panther and comprising Pawan Singh block general secretary, Dharam Singh Bajju block secretary, Rajinder Kumar Sharma vice president, Surjit Singh president panchayat Dumana and Madan Lal Bhagat secretary sat on hunger strike today. State president Bansi Lal Sharma has asked the state and the central government to understand the gravity of the situation in the region and concede the demand. The party workers also courted arrest today amidst raising slogans of ‘Bum-Bum Bhole’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ at Gandhi Nagar Police station. Prominent among those included party general secretary Anita Thakur, Rakesh Gupta and Paramjeet Singh Marshal. |
