| JKDF for resolution of contentious issue through dialogue | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 20
The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Forum (JKDF) has today urged the Centre to renew with sense of urgency the resolution of the contentious issue through a purposeful dialogue with all sections of the society including Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti, spreading the agitation over the Amarnath Shrine land row across the Jammu region. The Forum, after 2-day long working committee meeting presided by its President Pandit Bushan Bazaz, has urged the government to revive the peace initiative launched by the former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and carried forward by Dr. Manmohan Singh. Expressing grief over the loss of human lives during the recent protests across the state, the Forum, while expressing sympathies with the families of those killed at the hands of law enforcing agencies, demanded a probe to bring the culprits, responsible for extreme use of force, to book. It also sought immediate release of ex-gratia to the deceased families and those injured during the protests. Any damage to properties, including homes, shops, vehicles and other business establishments, must be adequately compensated, the Forum demanded. |
