The Chief Executive Councillor, Leh, Chhering Dorge today in a review meeting in the connection with the celebration of Ladakh festival, 2008 has approved the programmes of the festival. As per a release, the meeting decided to celebrate the festival for 15 days from 1st September, 2008 which was earlier announced to celebrate for only 10 days. The Deputy Commissioner, A.K. Sahu, Additional Deputy Commissioner and other district officers, representatives of Ama Tsogspas, Travel operators, Hotel Association, Merchant Association and Taxi Union were in the meeting. The main feature of this years Ladakh Festival will be chams and thanka exhibition at Spituk Monastery. Polo matches, camel safari, road show, include mock marriage, silk route, skit on Ladakhi farming, regional cultural dances, archery, agriculture exhibition, river rafting etc. besides Ladakhi food stall and handicrafts exhibition will also be available at NAC Complex. A documentary film on environment and wild life of Ladakh would also be exhibited during the festival. The CEC issued instructions to the various committees of Ladakh festival to work hard to make the Ladakh festival a grand success, the release added. |
