| MAJ GEN HARWANT VISITS DG RESETTLEMENT | | |

Maj Gen Harwant Krishan, Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) today came on his maiden visit to J&K State after assuming the change of Director General Resettlement. He Interacted with Ex-servicemen (ESM), widows and their dependents to gain first hand information on issues related to welfare and employment of ex-servicemen. There were 50 ex-servicemen present. During his interaction he emphasized on the positive role of Dte of Resettlement Zone North, Rajya Sainik Board and Zila Sainik Welfare Offices to provide a satisfying second career in the civil. The emphasis is shifting from Govt Sector to private sector and self employment. The booming IT Sector, Insurance Sector, Service Sector including hospitality industry in the country are also being tapped for providing much needed succour by way of second career to the Armed Forces Personnel.
The central govt is paying lots of attention towards resettlement of ex-service personnel, widows and their dependents. This can be gauged from the fact that a new department called Department of Ex-servicemen Welfare has been carved out in the Ministry of Defence headed by an Additional Secretary. The issues brought out by ex-servicemen were brought to the notice of senior army officers by DG Resettlement.
