| Doctor beaten, GMC staff goes on indefinite strike | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 20
The whole GMC hospital administration went on indefinite strike as soon as news of doctor beaten spread. The fire got fuel too when the case of fraud played by the authority came on four in the office of the Principal GMC hospital Dr Rajinder Singh before doctors present there with DC Jammu and SSP Jammu. Speaking to media person’s doctor’s said that the incident occurred when Dr. Vineet Gupta working as Registrar Orthopedics who also had to perform as in charge emergency duty today was coming to hospital and on the way he was intercepted by the Janipur police during the naka checking. He showed his identity card and the curfew pass to the police officials when asked but to his struck the same was shattered by the police officials and he was severely beaten when he objected to the act resulting fracture to his arm. Any how he managed to reach the hospital and narrated the whole episode to other doctor’s meted out to him. Doctor Satish Parihar, Gen. Secretary Junior Doctors Association and Dr. Pradeep Kumar President Medical Employees Association on having information gave call to indefinite strike. Soon the work in hospital got paralyzed. In ordered to cool down the matter, Divisional Commissioner Jammu and SSP Jammu reached in the GMC hospital where a meeting of doctors with them was held in GMC hospital Principal’s office. Doctors who were atleast 300 hundreds in number demanded the suspension of police officers who did such dastardly act. The situation turned into worst position when a police official who supposed to involve in the act was produced before them. But the said police officer in the presence of every refused the allegation made on him and said that he was forced to produce here. The doctors went berserk and started manhandled with senior police officers. DC Jammu in ordered to pacify the doctors said that the matter would be looked through personally by him. Angry doctors then tool to streets shouting anti government slogans and chanting Bum Bum Bhole . Later the authority suspended two police officers but the doctors refused to buzz they said that the act was mere and eyewash. The demanded until the culprits were not produced to them and they should apologize their act with suspension order in their hands the agitation would remain continue. The faculty now taking care of patients in emergency only, doctors informed. |
