| Police reshuffle in J-K: Raju, Bhan promoted to DG rank | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Aug 21
The Jammu and Kashmir government today carried out a reshuffle in its top police brass and brought Additional Director of CBI R V Raju back to the state besides promoting Ashok Bhan as Special Director General of its intelligence wing. Raju, a 1975 IPS officer from the state cadre, is slated to take over Director General of Police (Vigilance). He had held the post of Vigilance Commissioner in the state earlier during Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's tenure and was transfered after he filed a case against Maulvi Ifthikar Hussain Ansari for alleged misappropriation of funds. He will be in service till July next year. The state administration has already moved in papers to the Centre for Raju's repatriation and he was expected to join within a week. Bhan, a 1976 batch IPS officer from the state, was promoted as special Director General of its intelligence wing. The elevation of Raju and Bhan was approved at a meeting of the State Advisory Council chaired by Governor N N Vohra, an official spokesman said. The meeting was attended by all the three Advisors to Governor -- H H Tyabji, S S Bleoria and C Phusong. Bhan, at present posted as Additional Director General of Police (Vigilance), has been asked to hand over charge to S Gopal Reddy who would hold it till filled up on regular basis, the spokesman said. Bhan has held the post of Additional Director General of Intelligence earlier also. The spokesman said the Council also approved the placement of R K Seli as in-charge Development Commissioner (Power) and A R Tak as in-charge executive director of State Power Development Corporation. Both Seli and Tak were in-charge chief engineers. The Council also approved re-designation of the post of Superintending Engineer, Inspections Circle, J&K (Chief Electrical Inspector J&K) as Director, Trainings, Testing, Inspection and Commissioning wing and Chief Electrical Inspector, J&K without involving any new creation. The spokesman said the Council also approved purely temporary and stop-gap placement as in-charge Chief Engineer (Electric) of six Superintending Engineers (Elect) in their own pay and grade. They are Sonam Gailson, Asgar Ali Majaz, Abdul Rashid, T M Shayiq, Chering Dorge and Mushtaq Ahmad Shah. Majaz has been posted as in-charge Chief Engineer Procurement and Material Management Wing, Dorge in-charge Chief Engineer Planning and Design Wing, Shah in-charge Chief Engineer System and Operation Kashmir and T M Shayiq in-charge Chief Engineer Generation Wing Kashmir. |
