| Cultural Academy announces State Art Awards | | | Early Times Reporter

Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today announced prestigious State Art Awards for the year 2008.After approval of the judgments of 44th State Art exhibition by the President of Academy Governor of the State N N Vohra, the formal orders were issued today.
Giving details, Secretary Academy Zaffar Iqbal Khan Manhas said that first award under senior category amounting Rs25000 each has been adjudged in favour of renowned artists of State Irshad Sualah and Sonu Agarwal.
Under Student Category, Ataiya Thakur and Jasleen Singh have been adjudged first.
Zaffar further revealed that the Governor has also approved Certificate of Merit under senior Artists and Student category to Amreek Singh Namdari, Prof S.A Qazi, Javaid Iqbal, Surya JS Babli Rohit Verma, Reena Bala Sunita Kumari and Insha Manzoor.
Secretary Academy said that in order to ensure participation of senior members of the artist community from all over the state in these exhibitions we are considering creating "Invitees Section" from next time. He added that fear judgment was ensured and all out efforts made to dispel the fears lurking in the minds with regard to the fairness of selecting awardees.
The Award ceremony will be held shortly, Zaffar said. |
