| Targami asks PM to open roads of trade in JK with Pak | | | New Delhi | Aug 21
Jammu and Kashmir CPI (M) Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has stressed upon the Prime Minister Manmohan Sing to open the roads with Pak for giving a fillip to the trade and business of the state. Targami met Prime Minister last evening and divulged the developments of the meeting to media persons at a press conference here on Thursday. He said that the inadequate and delayed response from the government has aggravated the situation in both the regions of the state. He asked the Prime Minister to intervene into the matter so that the issue is resolved as per the aspirations of the people of the state. Dr Singh should personally intervene in the matter and hold talks with Amarnath Sangarash Samiti and leaders of separatists so that the issue is resolved as per the aspirations of both the regions and peace restored in the state, Tarigami said. The recent developments have necessitated fulfilling of some legitimate demands, including reduction in disproportionate strength of troops, release of prisoners, opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawlakote and Jammu-Sialkot roads for trade. The Prime Minister has already made a commitment in this regard. There is a need for greater people-to-people contact between India and Pakistan, the CPI leader observed. |
