| BAJ condemns attack on Doctor, examines legal aspects of incident | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 21
Condeming the barbaric act of police inflicting grievous injury to Dr. Vineet Gupta, Bar Association Jammu has constituted a committee of lawyers comprising Sr. Adv DC Raina, Advocates RK Kotwal, Abhinav Sharma, SK Shukla, Amrit Sareen and Monish Chopra to examine the legal aspects of the incident and initiate appropriate proceedings against the police officials involved in this barbaric act. The members of the Bar Association under the chairmanship of its President Adv BS Salathia took out a massive car rally from High Court Complex Jammu which culminated at Medical College Auditorium. Speaking on the occasion Salathia has impressed upon the administration to issue instructions to the police and curfew enforcing agencies to treat the identity cards of doctors and para-medical staff as curfew passes otherwise the patients will suffer as doctors and para-medical staff cannot attend to their duties in view of the harassment caused to them while going to hospitals to perform their duties. BAJ assured the doctors that free legal service shall be provided to Dr. Vineet Gupta or any other doctor or para-medical staff in the event of harassment caused to them by the police or any curfew enforcing agency. To mobilize the public opinion, the Association addressed huge gatherings at Miran Sahib, RS Pura and Brij Nagar where the local residents accorded rousing reception to the Bar members. The Bar members while addressing the public meetings appealed the people to remain vigilant and identify elements who were attempting to weaken the agitation by damaging the Government and private properties and also attacking the politicians belonging to different political parties. BAJ President BS Salathia also appealed to all the political leaders of Jammu region to rise above the party politics and fight this decisive battle ofthe people of Jammu region against anti-national, secessionists and Kashmir centric politicians. BAJ also appealed to the District and Tehsil Bar Associations of Jammu region to work for strengthening and intensifying the ongoing mass moment, besides providing free legal aid to victims of on going agitation regarding Shri Amaranath Ji land row.
