| Cong non-committal on tie-up with PDP | | | New Delhi | Aug 21
With the PDP having brought down the coalition government it led in Jammu and Kashmir on the Amarnath issue, Congress on Thursday remained non-committal on whether it would again tie up with the Mehbooba Mufti-led party in the assembly polls in that state. The AICC also dubbed the Amarnath row as a "manufactured" controversy and regretted that the ongoing agitation was based on "complete falsehood and lies". "Party general secretary in-charge of the state will take a decision at an appropriate time." party spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan told reporters when asked whether the party would have a tie-up again with the PDP. She was especially critical of the BJP for its attempts to arouse passions on the issue on the Amarnath issue, saying that all parties should remember that such an agitation in a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir was not in the interest of the country. Natarajan spoke at length at how the Amarnath yatra has passed off peacefully and a record number of yatris undertook it. |
