Jammu gets third SSP in a month
Still grappling in dark on the possible ways and means to end crisis following Amarnath Shrine land controversy, the Government is now apparently readying up to take the situation head on instead of waiting for a miracle to happen. With law and order going completely out of its hands, the Governor NN Vohra’s administration is mulling changes at the top level of Police even as it made certain drastic changes today. The decision of changes at the top Police hierarchy and some abrupt changes at the operational level are believed to have taken after the law and order machinery completely broke down in many cases. Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda, who has been in the line of fire for past one month, is all set to be replaced by Radha Vinod Raju. The crucial department of Crime Investigations too has been taken away from Kuldeep Khoda and handed over to a more composed officer Dr Ashok Bhan. Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal has been removed and Manohar Singh has been appointed as successor. Manohar will be the third district Police chief to hold reigns in Jammu within one month. Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal had replaced Alok Kumar after allegations of desecration of the body of Kuldeep Kumar Varma who committed suicide on July 23. Meanwhile, The State Advisory Council in its meeting today chaired by the Governor. N. N. Vohra approved recalling of R. V. Raju IPS, from central deputation with immediate effect. On his repatriation to the cadre, Mr. Raju would be promoted to the pay scale of Rs. 24050-650-26000 and posted appropriately. The Council also approved transfer of Ashok Bhan IPS. Commissioner of Vigilance and posting as DGP, CID in his own pay and grade. Mr. Bhan will handover charge of his present post to Mr. S. Gopal Reddy, IPS, who would hold it till filled up on regular basis. |
