| Reign in your people, BJP tells PM | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 22
Commenting on the Prime Minister’s oft-repeated suggestion that “political parties should rise above partisan politics” to help resolve the Amarnath land issue and defuse the volatile situation in Jammu and Kashmir, state BJP vice-president and spokesperson Prof Hari Om today asked him to first rein in Congress spokespersons like Veerapa Moily, Jayanti Natrajan, Abhishek Manu Singhavi and Munish Tiwari and differentiate between Jammu nationalists and Kashmiri separatists; between those holding aloft the national tricolor in Jammu and those waving the Pakistani flags and carrying posters of Jinnah in Kashmir and then solicit the support of other parties for the resolution of the problem. This is imperative, he said. “Moilly, Natrajan, Singhavi and Tiwari have been consistently outraging the Jammu’s nationalist, secular and all-embracing sentiment by saying that the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) / BJP and the Hurriyat Conference are the two sides of the same coin. These Congress spokespersons, who have been directly appeasing the Kashmiri separatists and fanatics by making such outrageous statements, need to be snubbed immediately by the Prime Minister so that a right signal goes across the country that the ongoing mass movement in Jammu is secular, peaceful and legitimate and that the mass mobilization in Kashmir against the Jammu agitation is nothing but a manifestation of the Valley leadership’s anti-India, pro-Pakistan and rabidly communal approach”, said Prof Hari Om. The BJP spokesperson also asked the Prime Minister to recognize the fact that it was his Congress party which first allotted the land at Baltal to the Shrine Board for creating facilities on a temporary basis for the pilgrims and then took a complete U-turn and revoked the land diversion order to appease the fanatics and that it was this dubious role of the perverted Congress party which made the enraged and thoroughly humbled people of Jammu province rise in revolt against the communal policies of the powers-that-be in New Delhi and the State Raj Bhawan. “It is the Congress which is squarely responsible for the ongoing struggle in Jammu and it is now for the Congress to admit its guilt and ask the immature and partisan Governor N N Vohra to immediately withdraw his June 29 letter, revoke the July 1 cabinet order and restore the land to the Shrine Board. This is the only course left for the Prime Minister”, Prof Om maintained. Referring to the National Security Advisor (NSA) M K Narayanan’s August 20 Srinagar suggestion that the state’s law and order authorities should refrain from using force against the Kashmiri extremists and that it was time to restart dialogue with the separatists so that the Kashmir issue could be tackled, Prof Om said that the Congress-led UPA Government is playing with dangerous tools, instead of conciliating the nationalist people of Jammu province. He warned the NSA and his ill-intentioned masters in Delhi not to dilute the Indian sovereignty in Kashmir under the pretext of meeting the demands of the SAYSS, and added, that any attempt on their part to harm the national interest in Kashmir by resuming the so-called peace process would further infuriate the already rather infuriated people of the Jammu province, who would not accept anything short of the state’s total merger with India and the application of the Indian Constitution to the state in full, barring the separatist, undemocratic and communal Article 370, the BJP leader said. |
