| Gujjars urged not to migrate | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Aug 22
Various organizations of Gujjar Tribe today appealed the community residing in of Jammu region, not to migrate from their ancestral lands and co-ordinate with majority Hindu community and the administration, in order to contribute in confidence building measures in region which is witnessing turmoil for the last two months. In a press statement Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation, a National organization working on Gujjars, sought the intervention of district administrations and that of the majority to create and built an atmosphere of confidence among various communities in the region. The statement further said that Gujjars are integral part of the multi ethnic structure of Jammu region and have stood by majority communities for centuries together, besides have proven their credentials in testing times, therefore they should rise up to the occasion and contribute in the integrity of the region. Dr.Javaid Rahi, National Secretary of the Foundation expressed concerned that a few elements among the Gujjars are trying to create confusions and chaos among the community and the tribe needs to identify them so that they are isolated. Meanwhile, a number of Gujjar leaders from various States of India, amidst of the news of migrations of 250 families of Gujjars from various areas of Jammu, Samba and Kathua to Jammu city forest are have impressed upon them not to think migrating from their ancestral holds as they will work with them for confidence building and peace. In a separate telephonic and email massages to Dr. Javaid Rahi , the Gujjar leaders of eleven States of India have expressed sympathy with the Muslim Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir and appealed the majority Hindu community in Jammu to provide guard to Gujjars of Jammu region and ensure their safety and security on priority. |
